**Position Information**:
Out of Home Care Teacher based at Berkeley Vale Public School.

The Out Of Home Care teacher supports students where parental responsibility is held by the Minister of Department of Communities and Justice. The Out of Home Care program helps schools support the wellbeing of students who are in, or entering out of home care. The role includes consultation with Department of Communities and Justice, and other government and non-government agencies including health professionals. The Out of Home Care teacher works as part of the Learning and Wellbeing team and provides support to schools and teachers to improve educational outcomes for students living in statutory out of home care.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Approval to teach within the K-12 range, with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Department of Education policy and practice in supporting the complex and educational needs of students in Out of Home Care.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders within and across teams including schools, students, parents and government and non-government agencies.
- High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to maintain appropriate documentation regarding the support provided to eligible students.
- Current driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to travel between worksites.
