Role Description
The Teacher Assistant (TA) is an important human resource who supports the diverse learning needs of students
within the school community. The TA works under the supervision of the Leader of Learning - Diverse Learning
and direction of the classroom teacher, to support student learning. They:
- Provide timetabled in-class support to enable teachers to flexibly address the needs of all students.
- Implement specific skill training and/or reinforcement of skills.
- Supervise individual or small groups of students in the learning space, playground, passive play area or
- beyond the school.
- Assist in the maintenance and organisation of resource materials and equipment.
- Assist in activities related to orientation and transition programs for students with additional needs.
- Provide physical assistance and/or personal care to students (e.g. toileting support)
- Perform specific tasks as directed by the principal or their delegate.
Other
- Salary and conditions will be as per the Level 4 classification NSW Catholic Independent Schools
(Support - Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023.
- This role is required for 62 hours per fortnight during school terms only, and therefore, the rate of
fortnightly payment will be averaged in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract and
the terms of the Enterprise Agreement. Indicative hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Variation to Role Description: The Role Description will be updated from time to time to reflect legislative
changes and requirements and the duties and responsibilities of the role may be varied, after appropriate
consultation, in response to the changing needs of the College.
