Urgent Defect Support Coordinator

**About the role**
This is a key role supporting our Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) program, where we provide sustainment activities for two LHDs, HMAS Canberra and Adelaide. The Urgent Defect (URDEF) Support Coordinator provides all aspects of support to ensure timely rectification and management of urgent defects on board the vessels. The role is a great combination of administrative and technical activities and is your opportunity to join Babcock during a period of rapid growth and help us continue to support the Australian Defence Force’s maritime capability. Responsibilities could include:
- Support URDEF Manager throughout contractor engagement process with generation of Repair Plans and Request for Quote (RFQ);
- Generate SAP Service Order (SO), Task Change Proposal (TCP) and Purchase Orders (PO);
- Consolidation of data into Maintenance Management Portal (MMP);
- Inspect defects onboard the LHD Class with support of ship staff and report back to URDEF Manger on findings;
- Provide out of hours management support for URDEFs on the LHD Class as designated by the URDEF Manager;
- Review of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) through NSM document management system;
- Other activities as defined by URDEF Manager or Program Delivery Manager
- Attend morning meetings during LHD maintenance periods
- Identify opportunities for lessons learnt during conduct of URDEF rectification process
- Draft and release daily P1 URDEF status reports to stakeholders as designated by the URDEF Manager.
**About you**
You will be technically and mechanically minded with a desire for problem solving. You will pride yourself on your ability to organise and prioritise demands and handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively engage multiple stakeholders at all levels. You consistently deliver to a high standard and possess the following:
- Australian Citizen with Defence security clearance (or ability to obtain);
- Ability to understand Engineering drawings and have knowledge of Engineering maintenance practices;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail;
- Knowledge of accounting and purchasing/ process/ systems (SAP or other similar systems);
- Ability to accommodate irregular work patterns to meet production requirements when required;
- Suitable experience in a similar role;
- Prior experience or knowledge working in the Defence Industry (Desirable);
- Effective use of AMPS - CMT - DRMS - MERCURY as the corporate tools (Desirable);
- Understanding of Navy URDEF Process and requirements (Desirable);
- Understanding of working within a ship maintenance support/delivery environment (Desirable).
