Bell Asset Management is a global equity specialist and has been managing global equities on behalf of Australian and US pension funds since 1997 and has been managing its own managed funds since 2007. We have 25 staff in two offices, with Investment Management and operations run out of Melbourne.

About the Opportunity
The Equity Operations Manager is a new position and will work with the Head of Equity Operations and the Settlements Manager on equity operations, system integration an investment record keeping, and performance analysis and reporting.
Reporting to the Head of Equity Operations and acting as a senior partner the role will add depth and experience to the Equity Operations team to ensure the successful management and execution of our global equity transactions. The Operations function (covering global and domestic equities, cash and fx) covers settlements, trade management, reconciliations, and the onboarding of new accounts. The role covers all operations processes and procedures and requires someone with a strong risk and compliance focus.
The other key element of the role is management of investment portfolio information and the management of the investment performance data, analysis, record keeping and reporting. The role heavily involved in FACTSET which we use for performance analysis and client reporting and there will be overlap with the client reporting function which also reports to the Head of Equity Operations.
- Shared management of the of the operations processes and workflows to promote an environment which promotes accountability, enables career growth, and allows people to feel a sense of accomplishment
- The execution and delivery of the client portfolio reconciliation process, including the investigation, problem solving and resolution of outstanding items
- Supporting the Head of Equity Operations in the management of the end to end performance calculation, management and reporting process, with particular emphasis on maintaining good quality data in the FACTSET system.
- The onboarding and transition of local and global institutional clients
- Ensuring trade management and settlements obligations are adhered to and managed via DTCC
- Accurate reporting and investigation of investment data to support key stakeholders in particular the Investment Management and Distribution users of this data.
- Continuously improving processes and procedures using technology
- Management of operational processes and procedures to ensure they are current, relevant and enable BAM to manage operational risk
- Build, foster, and maintain exceptional relationships with internal and external parties
- Supervision of two staff handling equity settlements, reconciliations and data feeds.

About You
We are looking for an experienced manager with strong exposure to the full lifecycle of global equity operations. You will be IT savvy, with experience in maintaining workflows that utilise different systems to produce a high-quality end result. Understanding of performance analysis, portfolio attribution is important, with specific FACTSET experience preferable.
You will have worked in a managerial or supervisor role in an Australian fund manager dealing in global equities. Ideal experience would be with a small to medium sized manager experiencing rapid growth. Onboarding and transitions experience will be highly regarded.
Technical skills
You will need to be an excellent communicator, natural stakeholder manager, proactive, detail oriented, and responsive.
- Preferable experience in using FACTSET to onboard clients. If FACTSET has not being used technical/transferrable skills from a similar system is required.
- Competent and confident in client onboarding, settlements, and reconciliations
- Strong risk manager with an ability to improve processes
- Experience and strong technical skill in the trade management and settlement lifecycle is required, with DTCC experience well regarded.
- Have the ability to analyse data, draw insights, and communicate findings with senior stakeholder
- Possess and open and collaborative working style, with a passion for leading and developing others
