Job Description

**The Role**

As Advocacy and Government Relations Manager, you will be responsible for delivering advocacy strategies in accordance with set deliverables and timeframes, managing policy engagements, and promoting key messages and advocacy initiatives that align with our mission.

You will work closely with the Social Justice Committee and key stakeholders across the organisation to develop strategic advocacy priorities that align with our mission and organisational priorities, ensuring that deliverables support and complement our strategic plan.

Your role will develop and support government relations to enhance the Society's standing as a reliable government stakeholder and also engage with government officials at various levels

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead advocacy and government relations strategy, aligning with organizational priorities and ensuring effective internal and external communication.
- Develop and implement an advocacy strategy in collaboration with the Social Justice Committee and key stakeholders at national and state levels.
- Build and manage relationships with peak bodies, advocacy agencies, and key partners aligned with organizational priorities.
- Monitor emerging advocacy issues and policy changes, advising on opportunities and providing recommendations.
- Represent the organization externally, attend parliamentary sittings, and lead the development of submissions, reports, and policy statements.

This is a **Permanent, Full-time**Advocacy and Government Relations Manager** (38 hours per week)**role**based in** South Brisbane.**

Desired Skills and Experience

**To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria**:

- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Social Research and Policy, Community Development, Health or Public Policy, or related field. Post-graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
- Minimum 7+ years in a similar role leading effective engagement and advocacy activities particularly with all levels of government and/or in the notfor-profit sector - Advanced research and advocacy skills.
- Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working within public service and/or the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable
- The ability to work within tight deadlines, independently and with mínimal supervision.
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
