As a member of the Marketing and Communications Department, the Writer - Publications and Submissions will support mecwacare’s positive image in the Victorian community and actively participate in the development and implementation of its Marketing and Communications Strategy. This role is primarily responsible for writing creative and engaging internal and external communications, as well as grant and awards submissions on behalf of the organisation.

Responsibilities include media relations, preparing grant and award submissions, writing social and digital media content, and general marketing/event management activities.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building strong working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues. They will have an eye for a good story, as well as the ability to bring that story to life in a way that resonates with the community and potential donors. This is a 3-year fixed term contract, with an opportunity for extension.

**What you bring**:

- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, marketing/communications, or another relevant area
- Outstanding research and writing skills for various channels, including editing and proof-reading
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to write for various audiences
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and to balance conflicting and emerging demands
- Minimum three years’ experience creating customer-facing content
- Demonstrated experience in a corporate communications or public relations environment, with experience in media relations an advantage
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and attend to multiple tasks across a range of settings, with little supervision
- Highly developed problem-solving abilities
- Strong market orientation and networking skills
- Excellent administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft software
- Current Victorian driver’s licence
