Provisional Fellow

About the role
- Provide exposure to clinical services at a large tertiary referral centre with the aim to transition to independent consultant level practice.
- Gain tertiary level experience in a variety of anaesthesia services across a wide range of disciplines in addition to subspeciality area.
- Provide an opportunity for a specialised Fellowship year in one of the following:

- Trauma anaesthesia
- Neurosurgery and interventional radiology anaesthesia
- Vascular anaesthesia
- Major GI anaesthesia (including pelvic exenteration surgery)
- Major Burns anaesthesia
- Urology (including robotic surgery)
- Airway (anaesthesia for ENT/Maxillofacial/Head and Neck surgery)
- Plastics and reconstructive anaesthesia (including free flap surgery)
- Complex and reconstructive orthopaedic anaesthesia
- Obstetric anaesthesia
- Gynae-oncology anaesthesia
- Breast and Endocrine anaesthesia
- Regional anaesthesia (including Block Room)
- Quality and Safety
- Medical Education and Simulation
- Acute Pain Management Service
- Perioperative medicine (also option to be involved in Anaphylaxis Follow-up and Skin Testing Service)
- General fellowship year across all subspecialties at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital
- POCUS or Point of Care Ultrasound skill development is offered in addition to any area of interest and is available to 2 provisional fellows during the year.
- Transition to independent lists in subspeciality area by the end of the twelve-month period.
- Ability to expand managerial roles.
- Ongoing education for registrars and Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioners.
- Participation in quality assurance activities.
- Participation in research activities.
- Produce a Provisional Fellow Project to contribute to the anaesthesia department and build the trainee's curriculum vitae whilst developing useful non-clinical skills.
