**Ongoing, full Time Opportunity based in West Metro**:
- **Lead the delivery of court and bail services**:
- **CYF4 Salary range ($107,680 - $118,816) plus superannuation**
**About the Role**
Based at the Melbourne Children's Court and undertaking work in relation to children and young people allocated to the West Metropolitan Area, the Practice Leader will:
- Coordinate assessments for children and young people at risk of remand or on remand
- Undertake assessments for Supervised Bail and Intensive Bail
- Represent case management staff from the West Metropolitan Area by providing high quality court advice and bail assessment advice to the Children's Court
- Work with stakeholders including legal representatives and Victoria Police prosecutors in relation to children and young people appearing before the Melbourne Children's Court.
- Coordinate with Team Leaders and Team Managers from the West Metropolitan Area, and the Classification and Placement Unit, to ensure a timely and efficient bail assessment service is provided.
This role will work to provide a high-quality court advice and bail assessment service, working to reduce the number of young people remanded into custody, by providing robust, evidence-based assessments and plans to the Children's Court. The role will also provide feedback to the General Manager regarding court advice and bail assessment processes to improve the current service.
**About You**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Advanced understanding of the Youth Justice system including the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice at an advanced level in the area of statutory Youth Justice or related fields.
- Understanding of the principles of case management and case work and a range of assessment and interventions relevant to the age, gender, developmental stage and offending related needs of the young person.
**Qualifications**
- A Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable. Other tertiary qualifications at Diploma level or above will be considered only if they include units of study in case management/casework practice and have had supervised practical work placements.
- A full driver's licence is required due to the need to travel across the Division as required.
- A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
