**The Role**

The Image Interpreter performs high level image digital correction and manipulation from preservation digital assets for use in Memorial exhibitions, publications and public access. The work involves: calibration and use of professional level equipment, including large format inkjet printers. The deployment of colour management standards and procedures, and the use of business management systems including; MICA, Piction and MediaBin.

The second primary role is to provide operation support and function to scan at preservation level collection material including negative, photographic and motion picture material as directed.
There are two vacancies which will be filled for a period up to 27 June 2025.

**Core Responsibilities**

Under the general direction of the PFS Manager Digital Preservation on multiple sites and to established timeframes:

- Perform high-level digital correction and manipulation of digital images associated with the collection preservation and access programs using professional equipment. Maintain collection image integrity in accordance to National Collection established guidelines and practices
- Maintain and calibrate equipment such as high-grade graphic monitors and large format inkjet printers.
- Undertake digital colour management and workflow procedures associated with the preservation and access programs to Memorial standards.
- Maintain preservation and technical metadata requirements within collection business systems (CMS - MICA and DAMS - MediaBin).
- Ensure the correct handling of collection items to minimise risk of damage to originals.
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of equipment such as high grade graphic monitors and capture equipment.
- As directed provide operation support and function to scan at preservation level collection material including negatives, photographs and motion picture material and large 2D objects such as maps and posters.
- Assist with the development staff and provide strong technical capability, promoting open communication and initiative.
- Abide by and further the principles and practices of Work health and Safety as outlined in the WPS Act, taking reasonable care for personal health and safety and ensuring that acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.
