**About the Team**:
The Strategic Policy Directorate is a team of respected advisers and analysts who combine perspective, direction, and rigorous policy thinking to improve outcomes for children and young people. We collaborate across the department to identify and shape existing and emerging policy issues and opportunities in public education in South Australia.
We also support the department in high-quality strategic policy design, implementation, and evaluation.
**About the Role**:
As a senior leader in the directorate, the Policy and Project Lead is responsible for leading strategic policy analysis on issues and opportunities, shaping opportunities for change and working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver reforms.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the provision of high-quality analysis and advice on a range of policy issues and complex matters connected with the strategic direction of public education in South Australia.
- Foster cross-departmental and stakeholder collaboration to identify, analyse, and advance strategic opportunities in public education in South Australia.
- Integrate and refine policy advice from various sources, including on sensitive political matters, to shape informed policy decisions and development that advance the department’s priorities.
- Provide reflective leadership and oversight of policy and project management activities as required, including embedding cultural responsiveness in ways of thinking and working.
- Help to ensure that the analysis and action of the Strategic Policy directorate are underpinning by evidence, a clear theory of change and enact and principles and priorities of the department.
- Build and maintain a robust professional network with key stakeholders within the department, across government sectors, and interstate to facilitate effective collaboration.
- Lead or represent the department in various committees and working groups, engaging with intra-agency, interagency, intergovernmental, and external partners as needed.

**Desirable Qualifications and Knowledge**:
- A tertiary qualification in law, economic, evaluation, public policy, early childhood or education, or similar. Knowledge of contemporary education issues, trends and policies, including knowledge of departmental policy, education systems nationally and internationally.
- **Special Conditions**:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

**Remuneration**:
ASO8 $121,107 - $125,679 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
