**Web Designer opportunity**

**About the role**

Government agency seeks an experienced Web Designer to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 5 months based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start.

As the Website Designer, you will be responsible for leading the creation of a range of quality and visually engaging designs that enhance the user experience of the organisation's website.

You will work closely with stakeholders, including project managers and developers to ensure the website is both aesthetically appealing and meets functional requirements. The role requires a combination of design principles, technical expertise, and an understanding of current web trends to deliver a modern, user-friendly website and enhance the overall online experience.

**Key Accountabilities**

Key responsibilities and duties will include:

- Managing cross-functional delivery with a small project team and collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand project objectives, provide expert advice, gather requirements, and translate them into effective website design solutions.
- Initiating research and analysis within an area of expertise consistent with organisational objectives.
- Creating intuitive, engaging and responsive designs that optimise the user experience.
- Developing wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups to communicate design concepts effectively to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Implementing best practices in website accessibility (WCAG compliance) and ensuring compliance with Whole of Victorian Government branding and style requirements.
- Creating documentation for website design processes, standards and guidelines, including brand artefacts.

**Key Selection Criteria**

The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

- Proven experience as a Website Designer or similar role, preferably within government or public sector.
- Proficient in website design software and technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of website design projects and creativity.
- Strong understanding of visual design, colour theory, typography, and user experience principles.
- Well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills
