**Position Overview**:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential Care Officer to join our growing team. As a Residential Care Officer at Australian Disability Services, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and delivering high-quality support services to individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will include developing care plans, liaising with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to deliver tailored care plans that promote independence, inclusion, and overall well-being.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop, implement, and review individualized support plans tailored to each participant’s unique goals, preferences, and needs
- Oversee and coordinate daily support services to ensure high-quality, person-centred care
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate client progress and update plans accordingly
- Collaborate with clients, families, and allied health professionals to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to care
- Monitor and manage medication administration, and respond promptly to health-related incidents or medication errors
- Liaise with health practitioners, and ensure accurate communication of any health updates to staff and families
- Submit monthly health and wellbeing reports
- Provide mentorship and guidance to support workers to build their confidence and improve client outcomes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in line with NDIS requirements and organisational procedures
- Ensure all practices comply with NDIS regulations, workplace policies, and safeguarding standards
- Advocate for the rights and dignity of people with disability in all aspects of support
- Stay informed of industry trends and contribute to continuous service improvement
**Skills and experience**:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in related field
- Experience and knowledge of disability, mental health and/or positive behaviour support
- Minimum one year in a similar role within the disability sector is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the NDIS and relevant disability legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions.
- High level of empathy, resilience, emotional intelligence, and cultural sensitivity
- Strong communication, case management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (preferred)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to undergo the check.
