**The Role**

Working alongside the Senior Legal Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of duties mainly related to commercial and contracts law.

Day to day duties will involve:

- Research, drafting, and review of legal documents and contracts - ranging from construction projects contracts, events, agreements with other government agencies etc.)
- Creation and maintenance of required legal templates
- Manage advice from Council’s Legal Services Panel including briefing, liaising with panel firms and overseeing advice.
- Coordinate the collation of legal advice from providers
- Manage the Legal Services Panel tender process and contract.
- Facilitate the delivery of specialised training in conjunction with Council’s legal panel.
- Assist the Manager with Privacy and Access to Information issues.
- Coordinate the preparation and processing of subpoenas.
- Other duties as required

**The Opportunity**

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior lawyer with 1-3 years post-admission experience to join one of Australia's fastest growing council areas and gain valuable experience in commercial and contracts law.

This Council is based in Sydney's South-West, and offers a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office/2 days WFH. You will join a small team of 7 to assist with your onboarding.

This is a contract position for an initial 6 month contract, with strong potential to extend to 12 + months. Annual salary will be equivalent of $70k - $85k depending on experience.

This is a requirement to assist the team during a very busy period.
- 1-3 years' post-admission experience
- Demonstrated experience with commercial and contract law
- Experience with industrial and/or planning law is desirable but not necessary
- An understanding of public sector processes/services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
