About the Role:
This position will be offered on a Monday to Friday roster, working at the WA Mining Hub, Booragoon or the Bindjareb Office - depending on which location suits you best, we can also offer flexibility to work remotely (1 - 2 days per week)

The primary role of the Spatial Data Analyst is to manage the spatial data generated by Alcoa’s WA operations and other external sources. They must be able to validate, process, update, and reconcile incoming and outgoing spatial data and ensure statutory compliance of spatial data and systems. They will also support a wide range of users to access and manage this data.

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Spatial Data Analyst will be responsible for the management and control of a huge array of spatial data that covers over 7000km2 area of Alcoa’s WA mining lease. This may include:
- Using the current GIS requests systems, interrogate and triage support requests appropriately.- Continuously looking for any potential improvement opportunities that may benefit the customer and/or the GIS team.- Continuously assessing spatial data workflows against the latest technology to make sure that they are the most appropriate.

With multiple stakeholder inputs and statutory obligations, it is imperative that all related data is accessible and accurate. This means that the systems used to access this spatial data are also imperative to Alcoa’s WA operations to continue to operate with success.

What you can bring to the role:

If you feel that you meet some of the criteria below but would need help and training to develop some aspects, please apply, training and support will be available.- A Bachelors degree in the Spatial Sciences, Environmental Science, or relevant industry experience is essential.- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with spatial data is desirable.- High level of experience with Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro will be highly regarded.- Experience supporting customers/other users will be highly regarded.- Experience using Python in a spatial data context is desirable but not essential.- Experience with database management and/or SQL is desirable but not essential.

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia and it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
