Casual Swim Instructor

**Sherwood State School P&C** operates a fun and cheerful, school-aged swim club for their school community (**Sherwood Sharks**). The club offers a range of lesson and swim squads to promote a love of swimming and develop children's abilities in the water.

We have casual instructors roles available. These vacancies are focused primarily on younger swimmers, establishing confidence in the water and basic swim skills.

Additionally to the swim club shifts, our swim employees are also offered work supporting PE lessons (swimming) throughout Term 1 and 4. A combination of these hours provides significant work during these periods.

Sherwood Sharks is located at Sherwood State School in Brisbane's Western suburbs. We are focused on developing water confidence, technique and love of swimming for all children. We believe that every child should learn to swim from a young age as being able to enjoy the water is an essential part of the Australian way of life.

Complimenting the lessons and squads is a weekly club night where children race and compete to improve their best times.There is a strong community focus and and atmosphere of fun and enjoyment throughout the club's operations.

**What we're looking for**

We are looking for a positive and fun attitude, love of swimming and/or sport and experience with children.

The club has a great community feel and our roles are well-supported with ongoing staff training and flexibility. We encourage a fun and positive work environment for all staff members.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Leading swim sessions to develop swimmers technique and skills in the water.
- Provide encouragement to build children's confidence and enthusiasm for swimming.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all swimmers and their families.

**Minimum requirements**:

- Working with Children Check (blue card).
- Must be available for morning and afternoon shifts.
- Enjoy working with children in a fun and supportive environment.
- First aid qualifications, including CPR (or a willingness to obtain)

**Salary**: $27.91 - $30.71 per hour

- Morning shift
