About the Role:
We are looking for an Online Editor to manage most aspects of the information monitoring and alerting services to subscribers. The role is responsible for maintaining & updating the Capital Monitor portfolio across several topical web pages and newsletters, and its operational delivery to subscribers in conjunction with the Team Lead (Managing Editor).
The Online Editor is across all areas of subscribers’ content, products and services including ongoing service improvement and support as required. This role also supports the Managing Editor in overseeing the workflow of casual sub-editors and editorial assistants on shift while they collect, edit, format, and publish a variety of incoming content according to in-house style briefs and deadlines to deliver business objectives.
This is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Head of Current Awareness based in Parliament House, Canberra. This role requires some flexibility with working hours and working on average one Sunday per month.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Ensure consistency of style in accordance with the organisation's style rules.- Checks content for accuracy and spelling/grammatical, and stylistic errors.- Collaborates with others on the Editorial team to design, layout & publish pages for online consumption.- Edits content by condensing or expanding material gathered from sources and/or other editorial staff. - Supports (coaches & supervises) editorial and other staff reporting for a unit/bureau/region in the absence of the Managing Editor, or alongside them.- Acts as point of contact for staff or customer escalation queries as required.- Collaborates with internal stakeholders from the technical support, marketing, and sales teams to defend existing business, drive growth, identify opportunities.- Assist with account management and service delivery as required.- Collaborates with external stakeholders including subscribers, government / industry associations and business partners to monitor current news, information, and public policy.- Identifying gaps in content offering, and improvement opportunities to enrich the Capital Monitor experience, and cater to dynamic subscriber requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally Communications, Digital, Media, Legal.- Experience in editing/writing, online publishing and digital content management preferred.- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.- Ability to collaborate closely with external stakeholders and partners.- People leadership or supervisory experience.- High attention to detail
