Disability Support Worker

**DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKERS / DILIGENT CARE**

**About the role**

As a support worker, you will be responsible for:

- Supporting participants to develop and maintain independence
- Supporting participants in personal care assistance
- Supporting participants with meal-time preparations as per the need & requests of participants
- Supporting participants with domestic assistance
- Supporting participants with daily living.
- Provide a person-centred approach and utilise your creative thinking skills when developing ideas of how to improve the overall lifestyle and quality of life of our participants
- Implementing behaviour support plans aimed at supporting individuals who demonstrate challenging behaviours to achieve their goals.
- Supporting participants in Community Access and other activities

Essential Criteria:

- Exhibit commitment to supporting our participants to achieve their goals
- Exhibit ability to develop positive relationships with our participants and to support them in achieving their goals
- Exhibit verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating roster; you will be required to work across morning, afternoon and active or inactive night shifts, including weekends

Documents:

- NSW Working with Children Check or willing to obtain
- NDIS Worker Check or willing to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate or willing to obtain
- Police Clearance or willing to obtain
- A valid Visa to work in Australia
- At least 2 COVID-19 Vaccinations or willing to obtain

**Specific Position Vacancy**:
We have a participant looking for help with in-home care, transportation to parks, shops, physiotherapy and walks with the dog. The participant is aged in his mid-50s particularly needing support with personal care and keeping him busy throughout the day.

Essential things to know or need:

- **Female carer, aged 30+ with **reasonable disability care experience preferred**:

- Current shift times: 2pm-6pm Wednesdays; 6:30am to 2pm Fridays; possible partial weekend shifts and possible extension of the Wednesday and Friday shifts
- Location: Turramurra
- Must have a decently sized working car as this participant is quite tall as well as a valid licence (Red P & above/ or International)
- The family owns a small but a bit loud dog so the position should be filled by someone who is dog friendly
- Preferably someone who can speak English well and hold a conversation with him
