About the School

Beenleigh Special School is a vibrant and inclusive educational community supporting students with a wide range of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, vision, hearing, and autism spectrum disorders. The school caters to students with high support needs and challenging behaviours, providing specialised facilities such as a Home Economics space, a library with a learning technology area, a Snoezelen Room, and an Environmental Education Centre featuring a nursery and recycling compound. Programs are tailored through the statewide education adjustment process to meet individual needs. The school values diversity, wellbeing, collaboration, and open communication to foster student success, independence, and confidence.

About the Role

Beenleigh Special School is seeking an experienced and student-focused school leader for the role of Head of Department - Curriculum. In this role you will work as part of a team of curriculum leaders focused on the delivery or school and departmental initiatives. You will be jointly responsible for whole school curriculum development and pedagogy for students with a disability, and building the capability of a large number of teachers with a wide range of teaching experience.

Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department - Curriculum, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
