**The Role**

**Safety and Certification Manager**
- Engaging with stakeholders in support of System Safety and/or Certification Programs.
- Investigate system safety and/or certification engineering concepts.
- Coordinate and manage the system safety engineering and certification program and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle.
- Review System Safety and/or Certification deliverables in support of Project delivery.
- Investigate, analyse, review and report on the system safety engineering and/or certification program and develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.
- Manage the development of the Safety Case (including all supporting evidence and importantly the Safety Case Report) ensuring that the risks associated with safety hazards have been mitigated so far as reasonably practical.

**About our Team**
The Collins Submarine Program within NSSG is responsible for the maintenance and programmed upgrade of Australia’s Collins Class submarines. The Program works in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and Industry to deliver the strategic submarine capability to the nation.

**System Engineering Manager**
- Will have extensive experience and an in-depth understanding of systems engineering on complex systems.
- Experience in the development of marine systems and/or submarine systems.
- Will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders in relation to complex issues, along with the ability to tailor communication style and language according to audience’s level of knowledge, skill and experience.
- Exercise a considerable degree of independence and be capable of performing a leadership role.
- Have a demonstrated ability to plan and schedule activities with a view to maintaining and meeting deadlines.
- Will have demonstrated strength in attention to detail.
- Will have previous experience managing Defence acquisition systems engineering programs or aspects of systems engineering programs.

**Safety and Certification Manager**
In addition to the stated qualification and experience requirements, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Applicants must also demonstrate leadership attributes, strong communications skills with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders involved in the acquisition, sustainment and operation of various submarine systems and equipment.
