The Federal Court of Australia’s Corporate Services Security Branch is responsible for the security of the Federal Court of Australia, The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the National Native Title Tribunal and is looking to fill two vacancies, one each in Sydney and Brisbane. Through the provision of technical and professional advice and assistance in relation to security matters, service and execution of court orders within the court and tribunal systems, the Branch plays an important role in their operation.

**Position Overview**
The role of the Court Security Manager is to provide a range of assistance and project support services to the Director Security including providing technical, professional, and/or policy advice in relation to security matters within the court system. Providing assistance in the development of strategic and policy planning, development and project management. Employees would have a considerable level of public contact in relation to difficult or sensitive issues and may liaise with a range of stakeholders in a representational role.
Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows. The role will assist in the development of policies, procedures and practices for the security of the courts, judges and other court personnel as well as for court premises. The role will assist the Director Security in the management and oversight of the court’s security nationally. This position will assist with the acquisition, maintenance and replacement of security equipment and apparatus and management of security contracts.
This is a Designated Security Assessment Position (DSAP) with clearance access level of NV2.

**Duties**
- Assist the Director Security with relevant legislation, regulations and statutory obligations including the requirements under the protective security policy framework for the FCA, FCFCOA, NNTT and Federal Court entity’s security.
- As a Deputy Sheriff and Deputy Marshal, preparation of documentation, liaising with Judicial Officers and their staff, and police for the service and execution of all process of the Court directed to the Sheriff, Marshal, the Australian Federal Police and the police forces of the States and Territories.
- Taking, receiving, detaining and discharging all persons committed to custody by the Court or required by law.
- Prepare, manage and review physical, human and other related policy and practice to ensure the security of court personnel and premises nationally.
- Act as a point of contact/liaison with the Courts response to security-related crisis, incidents and emergencies in accordance with the Court’s security framework, and establish monitoring mechanisms across the Entity and Court jurisdictions.
- Manage and/or contribute to contracted service, including monitoring security contracts to ensure results; ensure performance against service level agreements, adherence to policies and procedures and monitor results of security audits and reporting.
- Provide support to Director Security in reporting to Heads of Jurisdiction, the Executive and other stakeholders concerning the prevailing threat environment and operational response activities.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including the judiciary, court user and partner law enforcement and security agencies.

Project Support
- Implement, monitor and report on strategic, operational and project plans to inform decision making and support achievement of organisational objectives
- Plan and coordinate project meetings including arranging communications setup, preparing agendas, taking minutes and monitoring follow-up actions.
- Work with Court Executives to identify project priorities and adjust work plans as required
- Manage / coordinate the emergency response training project.
- Assist the Director to interpret, draft and review security policies, protocols and frameworks that guide and underpin the provision of security services within the courts and tribunals.
- Working with established security performance measures, assist the Director to monitor procedures to achieve required security protection, address risks, counter unacceptable security risks, and improve security maturity.
- Research and prepare advice, information and reports on policy, planning and operational matters to support decision making and planning.
