**Purpose**

The Team Leader Community Programs and Learning will have a strong focus on the
delivery of a range of literary and literacy events, programs and activities that will stimulate
community learning and encourage enthusiasm for reading and writing across all age
groups. They will actively consult and form positive partnerships with community
individuals, groups, agencies and organisations to ensure relevance and reach of
programs. The incumbent will also be accountable for developing and implementing
marketing strategies to maximise community outcomes and effectively communicate the
value of libraries to key stakeholders and will oversee the management of Cove Civic Centre
including the facility, people leadership of the team and Marion Libraries hireable facilities.

The position will be an active member of the Library Leadership Team, which is
responsible for leading an innovative and future focussed library service.

A key requirement of the position is to provide leadership, which supports collaboration
across other business areas of Council to deliver quality programs.

**Key Deliverables**:

- Lead a customer, focused, high
- performing library team committed to life-long

learning, wellbeing and social inclusion, with an exceptional team culture and a
strong connection to the important role of public libraries within a community
setting.
- Provide effective coaching and mentoring to direct reports, supporting them

to develop as leaders and succeed in their roles.
- Provide service wide leadership to all library work teams with an emphasis on quality

program delivery, which enhances customer experience.
- Role model council’s values and nurture a team culture driven by these values.
- Assist with the implementation of a comprehensive staff training and development
- program with emphasis on customer service and technology training.
- Active member of the Community Connections team and contribute to the

achievement of the community and corporate vision including the development of
key performance indicators.
- Oversee the planning, development, management and delivery of vibrant and

engaging program of activities and events.
- Contribute to the development and review of policies and processes relevant to

the business unit.
- Provide expert specialist advice, support and assistance related to community

connections and learning programs, projects and activities.
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategies, which increase awareness of

library services within the community and with key stakeholders.
- Set budget directions for programs and events and actively pursue

funding opportunities to support Library programs and events.
