**About the Role**

You’ll be supporting children and young people in residential care who may have experienced significant trauma, abuse or neglect. Your role is to provide structure, stability, emotional support, and practical assistance to help them feel safe and grow into thriving young adults.

You’ll be working with one of Australia’s leading independent child and family services organisations, with over 100 years of history providing therapeutic, evidence-based services including out-of-home care, youth programs, and early intervention.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Providing trauma-informed care and supervision
- Supporting young people with daily routines and goal setting
- Behaviour support and crisis de-escalation
- Facilitating community access, education and life skills
- Completing incident reports and case notes
- Working collaboratively with house staff, team leaders, and case managers

**About You**

We're seeking support workers who are committed, empathetic and resilient. You’ll need to have the ability to manage challenging behaviours while building meaningful connections.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Minimum 1 year experience in a Youth Support Worker or Residential Care role (Australia-based)
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention _(or equivalent qualification)_
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- National Police Check (within 6 months)
- Valid Driver’s Licence Min P2 and reliable vehicle
- Two professional references (supervisor level or higher)
- Willingness to work flexible shifts (overnights, weekends, emergency)
- Completion of Cert 4 in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or the following units:

- CHCPRT009 Provide Primary Residential Care
- CHCMHS007 Work Effectively in Trauma-Informed Care
- CHCCCS009 Facilitate Responsible Behaviour

**Desirable Requirements**:

- TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) or Safety-Care training
- Experience in trauma-informed residential care environments
- Understanding of cultural safety practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
- Familiarity with DFFH frameworks (Best Interests Case Practice Model, LAC)
- Positive Behaviour Support knowledge
- Strong written communication and incident reporting skills
