**$25.02 per hour Part Time, Fixed Term 3 months**

**Paradise Country, Oxenford Gold Coast**

**About the role**:
Paradise Country is seeking an experienced Wildlife Keeper and animal trainer to work within the native and exotic animal section and uphold our friendly country atmosphere.

**Duties**:

- Ability to recognize particular animal traits and behaviors and effectively handle wildlife for guest photo opportunities
- Undertake animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance tasks to maintain excellent health of all animals as well as ensuring the exhibit presentation standards are maintained
- Perform relevant education talks and interactive tours to provide an educational & conservational experience to guests and students
- Participate in food storage, rotation, bulk delivery and ordering as required to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Ensure equipment is checked & maintained daily and ensure procedures are followed should equipment be faulty or require replacement
- Be responsible for punctuality to all Animal Tours

**Skills and Experience**:

- Experience with animal training and positive reinforcement
- Have a Australian Wildlife Tertiary Qualification or equivalent - Essential
- Demonstrated experience working with Australian Wildlife & sound knowledge of various Native Wildlife Husbandries
- Previous Koala handling an advantage
- Animal handling experience - Essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with guest service experience
- Public speaking experience is essential
- Knowledge of the wildlife environment and conservation issues within the wildlife industry is preferred
- Manual Driver’s licence an advantage
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with animals in a zoo facility
