**The Opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Officer to join the EPA in our Regulatory Practice & Services division. In this role, you will undertake diverse day-to-day tasks relating to the delivering the EPA’s incident response function. The role will assist with building the EPA’s capacity to respond to incidents through coordinating and delivering incident response training, maintaining the EPA’s Incident Management System, working within the Guardian Incident Management on-line platform and coordinating and developing guidelines and advice to assist Operations and the wider EPA response to incidents and emergencies. The role will include being part of the Duty Incident Advice Coordinator service and will require occasional after hours duty for one week at a time (additional renumeration applied to shifts).
**About You**
You will be an outcomes focused passionate advocate for the EPA, be prepared to work on regular occasions outside of normal hours on a rotating shift to coordinate advice and incident responses, either be trained or be willing to undertake training in the Australasian Interagency Incident Management System (AIIMS). Have a demonstrated high degree of competency using online systems and technology and a thorough understanding of the EPA’s role in protecting the environment of NSW. Preferably you will have experience in field based operations or incident management, collaborating with various agencies.
**About the Team**
The Incident Management Unit sits within the Incident Management and Environmental Health Branch. IMU strives to build, deliver and maintain the EPA’s incident management and response capability through coordination of advice and maintenance of support systems, procedures and processes and the training and professional development of EPA staff in incident response.
We manage important relationships with emergency service organisations and partner government agencies to connect with contemporary, best practice incident response and emerging issues. We work with combat agencies such as Fire and Rescue NSW, functional areas such as Engineering Services, and supporting agencies, in responding to emergencies and leading prevention, preparedness and recovery activities. The State Emergency Rescue and Management Act 1989 (SERM Act) and State Emergency Management Plan (EMPLAN) set out these emergency management arrangements.
