Munich Re is the leading reinsurer in the Australasian Non Life market and offers both treaty and facultative reinsurance support for all the main classes of business including Property, Engineering Liability, Motor and Marine.
The aim of Climate Analytics is to support our clients (both internal and external) to better understand, measure and manage the current & future physical climate risk exposure within their portfolios. Utilising the latest analytical capabilities and infrastructure, we create valuable insights, provide consulting services, and work with regulators and industry bodies to help shape climate risk guidance and requirements.
You will report to the Head of Climate Analytics
**Your Role**
- Develop approaches to solve analytical problems and communicate results and methodologies to different audiences
- Guide analytics projects to support the Non-Life business, its clients and new client segments to increase volume and quality of risk transfer or fee income business
- Provide commercial advice to the Climate Analytics team, while mentoring and upskilling less experienced team members
- Support Non-Life business with event response analytics following the occurrence of natural catastrophe events
**Your Profile**
- 5+ years of commercial experience in an analytical role within the insurance or reinsurance industry
- Experience with geospatial analytics in a commercial setting and using GIS tools such as ESRI, QGIS
- Experience in natural catastrophe modelling or climate risk analytics
- Advanced Excel (can write advanced macros), Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent command and ability to work with programming languages and statistical modelling tools such as SQL, SAS, R and/or Python
- Hands-on experience working in MS Azure (with services such as Databricks) or other cloud technologies
- Experience overseeing and guiding use of analytical approaches and demonstrated ability to recognise materiality, quality and commerciality of output
- Tertiary level qualification(s) in statistics, climate science, meteorology, earth sciences mathematics, actuarial science, or a related scientific field
