**About the role**
The Qualified Lifestyle Officer/Recreational Activities Officer is responsible for driving the engagement and participation of residents in a range of social, recreational, and cultural activities, as well as mental health and wellbeing programs that empower our resident’s choices and independence. In planning and organising all recreational activity programs, you will ensure individual residents’ needs, values, spiritual and cultural preferences are taken into account.
- Tuesday and Wednesday, 0830 - 1600 shifts, 14 hours per week
**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Conducts resident assessments either as directed by Facility Manager or lifestyle coordinator.
- To plan and implement activities programs through assessment and consultation and ensure that it continues to meet the identified needs of the residents.
- Carry out duties according to the daily lifestyle and recreational activities program schedule and residents’ person-centered care plans.
- Assist with providing direct care and interventions e.g. eating enablement, emotional support, or specific activities designed to support residents with dementia.
- Supervise volunteers assisting in the program when necessary.
- Assist in organising and conducting residents/carers meetings as required.
- Liaise and network with all appropriate community or church groups to facilitate community or religious activities for residents.
- Provide inputs and feedback to Facility Manager about suggested changes to meet residents’ needs.
- Complete documentation as appropriate.
- Participates in the development and evaluation of care plans to improve residents’ care in consultation with residents and their representatives.
- Ensure resources are used appropriately.
- Ensure all activities of the Program are conducted in accordance with ANHF Policies and Procedures.
- Participate actively in all ANHF Quality Assurance activities.
- Provide feedback to Facility Manager/Care Manager in relation to all services provided in the facility.
**Qualifications and Skills**
**Essential**:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (CHC43415) or higher.
- Minimum 1-year experience in aged care as RAO/QLO or demonstrated experience in running activities for older people.
- National Police Clearance.
- Valid Australian work right.
- Evidence of good team building, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to write simple reports in either Chinese or English.
**Desirable**:
- Experience in residential aged care.
- Completed medication competency
- Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations.
- Understanding of, and/or experience in the Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
- Current driving license.
