**The role**:
As a permanent employee of NGH, you will initially be seconded to the Queensland Government’s leading transport agency who plan, manage, and deliver Queensland's integrated transport environment to achieve sustainable transport solutions for road, rail, air and sea.

We are looking for a Cultural Heritage Specialist to provide high level guidance of cultural heritage and environmental management expertise to meet the Department's and Government's commitments across multiple projects within the South Coast Region. The Cultural Heritage Consultant will be a key contact point for advice regarding the requirements of Cultural Heritage for infrastructure projects.

**Description**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Implements and/or manages assigned projects.

Provide high level cultural heritage (both Indigenous and historical) technical expertise and guidance and identify options and solutions to support the planning, design, construction and maintenance of projects.
Facilitate the implementation of legislative and Departmental policy/procedures relating to cultural heritage management as part of the delivery of projects.
Provide information and advice to regional staff in relation to legislative and departmental policy, procedures and processes relating to cultural heritage issues to assist in ensuring the department complies with all requirements.
Develop and provide training packages and coordinate provision of training by external providers, to ensure that staff in the South Coast Region have an awareness of cultural heritage requirements and issues.
Project manage cultural heritage related consultancies, including the development of project briefs, selection and management of consultants, review of consultancy recommendations and overseeing the implementation of recommendations.
Liaise, consult and negotiate with indigenous groups, other government departments and stakeholders on cultural heritage issues.
Attend on behalf of South Coast Region in cultural heritage related meetings/forums.
Record key information gathered on cultural heritage matters to assist in planning, design and implementation.
- Prepare reports on cultural heritage issues relating to projects and ensure records are maintained, and information is available in relation to cultural heritage issues.

**Skills and Experiences**:
About you

This is an excellent career opportunity for a qualified Heritage professional looking for the next step in their career. Ideally, you will have:

- Possession of Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Social Science or related discipline and/or at least five years’ experience in a comparable role
- Membership of professional bodies e.g. Australian Archaeological Association (AAA), ICOMOS, or related discipline

Ideally you will have Prequalification on the SPO20/13 SOA 2. Cultural Heritage category
