**About The Job**

We are looking to hire an energetic and skilled dog handler & trainer to provide training and care to assigned dogs.

The dog handler & trainer’s responsibilities include observing and assessing behavioural patterns in dogs, understanding canine behaviour and utilising various dog training techniques that are best suited to each dog's personality and attributes.

You should also be able to disinfect all equipment as required and monitor canine health and well-fare.

To be successful as a dog handler & trainer, you should be observant, patient, and adept at handling different breeds and sizes of dogs. Ultimately, an outstanding dog handler should be able to remain calm in difficult situations as well as demonstrate exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

This offer is for an ongoing, permanent, and full-time position.

**About The Role**
- Developing and implementing appropriate customised training programmes for our Seagull Patrol Dogs and using the dogs to deter seagulls from stealing customers' food in restaurants at various sites around Sydney.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of implemented training programs and adjusting them as needed.
- Monitoring dogs during rest and socialisation times to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Teaching our assigned dogs to obey verbal and non-verbal commands.
- Promptly reporting injuries, accidents, or medical issues to management.
- Maintaining accurate records of dogs’ training and medical needs, behavioural issues, personalised training programs, and progress.

**Skills required**:

- Completion of an approved dog handler training program
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience
- The ability to handle different breeds and sizes of dogs.
- The ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- The ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organisational skills.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- A love for dogs.
- An observant, alert, and patient disposition.

Annual Salary: $70,000 plus super
