Entry Level Metalworker

At Express Metal Products we're ramping up production following a multi-million dollar investment to expand our facility and purchase another state of the art fiber laser with an automation package.
- Have a forklift ticket
- Have experience with sheet metal or know about different types of steel/aluminium
- Be able to work continuously unsupervised or without direction
- Be a friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful member of our team
- Be able to concentrate and have attention to detail during your shift

No experience required however previous experience in a manufacturing/fabrication or similar environment will be advantageous.

Knowledge of the different types of sheet metals and the ability to identify and measure different material types and thicknesses will also be advantageous.

- What will I actually be doing in this role?_

Shifts are available that start at 5:30, 7:30, 14:30, and 21:30. Afternoon and evening shifts attract a 15% or 30% shift loading. Our laser cutting plant cuts parts out of large metal sheets of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and sometimes copper or perforated materials.

Your tasks initially will be to pick parts out of the metal sheets, quality check them, then send them off for packaging/dispatch. For example you may have a sheet that contains 1000 security gate latches that need to be counted and checked for quality before moving on, some days your sheet will contain all of the parts required to fabricate a 4x4 canopy that need to be checked and sorted into kits.

Many other tasks need to be performed including moving material around in stores, grinding, paperwork, checking and sorting stock, or running parts through our tertiary processes such as edge rounding, deburring, and chemical cleaning.

There are many opportunities and avenues for advancement here at Express Metal Products including as a laser operator, storeman, quality, operations, fitting and turning, and a wide range of supervisory roles.
