The diverse and talented staff in the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) play a central role in achieving ECU's vision, and in designing and implementing future-oriented teaching and learning strategies. With its base at the Joondalup Campus, the CLT delivers a comprehensive suite of services and programmes on campus
The Learning Support team forms part of the CLT, and is focused on enhancing student success and preparedness for university. The team supports all ECU students to successfully transition into university and progress throughout their study, including enabling, undergraduate, postgraduate, and HDR programs. The team adopts a strength-based perspective to student development in these programs through delivering communication skills activities both within and outside of the curriculum.
The Role
The Learning Adviser is responsible for the delivery of ECU’s peer learning programs, including the Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) program and the Peer Skills Adviser program. Key responsibilities of the role include the student recruitment, training, monitoring, and evaluation of these programs in collaboration with other key service centres, such as the Library and Careers Advisers. It also works collaboratively with academic staff to coordinate the delivery of peer programs aligned to specific target units.
In addition to the coordination of these programs, the role also provides direct academic skills support to ECU students in face-to-face and online environments. Prioritising the needs of ECU’s diverse cohort, the role provides a student-focused, efficient service, aimed at improving student retention and progression. The role is an important team member in contributing to the day-to-day operations of the ECU’s Academic Skills Centres and Learning Hubs, including responding to student queries and redirecting students to other support services when required.
The successful applicants will possess the following capabilities:
A graduate qualification or progression towards a higher degree in Education and subsequent relevant teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
Demonstrated experience coordinating peer learning program programs
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, training, and mentoring student leaders
Demonstrated ability to support student skills development, including academic communication, numeracy, and study skills
Strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting people of diverse cultural backgrounds
A highly collaborative approach with a record of having achieved significant goals through teamwork.
Completion of the PASS Supervisor Training is also highly desirable.

Benefits & Remuneration
This ongoing full time position attracts a remuneration of $97,113 to $108,813 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
