Qantas Loyalty is a high performing business and has a history of launching exciting new brands and services that make a difference to its millions of Frequent Flyer and Business Rewards members. Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Business Rewards remain at the core of the program, while the business has evolved to include major partnerships and ventures across Financial Services and Retail, as well as a number of businesses such as Qantas Money, Qantas Insurance and Qantas Wine.
The Head of Strategy is responsible for the design, review and governance of the Loyalty portfolio strategy, as well as developing and advising business unit strategy for Qantas Loyalty. Reporting to the CFO, this role is a key lead for Loyalty Strategy. The successful individual will deliver and present on strategy activity across all Loyalty verticals - Financial Services, Travel, Retail, and B2C Businesses, to define the portfolio strategy and ensure the program achieves the best outcomes across the Loyalty member earn-engage-redeem flywheel.
The role oversees a multi-disciplinary team, including traditional business strategy, strategic design, commercial analytics and strategic insights. The type of work covers leadership of the portfolio/ecosystem strategy, identifying and evaluating business acquisitions and new/proposed partnerships, strategic programs to develop on current product and partner offerings as well as pre-discovery on new innovations.
The Head of Strategy collaborates closely with all the Loyalty leadership team to evolve their business focus. They are also accountable for leading GMC and board packs for Loyalty, including Qantas Loyalty Management Board (QLMB) quarterly activity, whilst also partnering with Finance, Commercial, Data & Tech, Delivery & People to align on CAPEX and workforce prioritisation sessions.
You’ll have:
- 10+ years’ experience in management / strategy consulting roles (consulting firm, freelance consulting) and general management (multinational corporation and new business establishment)
- Business related degree or relevant tertiary qualification, MBA highly regarded
- Experience leading portfolio, corporate and member strategies
- Experience leading a team and managing their workload across several projects at once
- Ability to work within ambiguity, managing and prioritising diverse business objectives
- Ability to engage people through communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to change and continuous improvement
- Innovative, collaborative and responsive style
- Ability to influence positive outcomes at a senior level
