**POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**
To carrying out all operational duties at the Waste Management Facility, in a safe and
professional manner. To work within and contribute to a multi-skilled team that promotes
council’s service image by providing courteous, responsive, and effective customer service.

Authorities (EPA, Sydney Water)
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To work within and contribute to a multi-skilled team environment.
- Operate relevant machinery to effectively undertake the day-to-day operations of the
- Waste Management Facility. This machinery includes, but is not limited to:
- Truck & Trailer combination
- Hook Lift Truck
- Front End Loader
- Backhoe Loader
- Forklift
- Excavator (Both Tracked & Wheeled)
- Material Handler
- Telehandler
- Tracked Loader
- Waste Compactor
- Bailer & Other Processing Machines

- Operate computerized weighbridge, issue receipts, handle monies and complete
associated reconciliations when required.
- Manage vehicle movements and traffic flow into and around the Small Vehicle Area to
ensure safe and efficient site operation.
- Inspect incoming vehicles to ensure that no excluded materials are delivered and that
waste loads are accurately categorized and sent to the most appropriate unloading
area.
- Identify asbestos containing materials through visual inspection or undertake asbestos
testing with supplied equipment.
- Undertake relief work where required.
- Conduct and/or assist with Water Sampling when required.
- Assist in the Community Recycling Centre as directed.
- Monitor and record on the volumes of materials received/stockpiled in the Recycling,
Re-use, E-Waste, and Hazardous Waste sheds to ensure efficient recovery of
resources.
- Maintain basic service, contractor attendance and other records as directed.
- Undertake minor maintenance and care of vehicles and equipment.
- Follow safe operating procedures and report any unsafe plant & equipment or practices.
- Provide a high-quality customer service that is delivered in accordance with Council’s
- customer service objectives.
- Follow safe operating procedures and report any unsafe plant, equipment, or practices
- to the Team Leader/Coordinator.
- Participate in the review of all work procedures as directed and attend toolbox meetings
as required.
