Empower living is URGENTLY looking for skilled, professional, bubbly, and experienced staff to support a young male paraplegic, non-verbal.

Support hours are as follow:
Monday to Friday:
7am to 9am : Personal care, 2 persons assist manual handling, get him ready for his day program.

3pm to 6pm: toileting care, manual handling (2 persons assist), capacity building, meal preps, go out to the park

Weekends and Public Holidays:
7am to 9am

11am to 1pm

3pm to 6pm

You will be doing (not limited to the below list)
- Engaging with him and ensuring that he needs are met
- Providing emotional support
- Momnitoring his bowel movements and behaviors attached
- Assisting in meal preparation
- Communication: written reports and data collection and ongoing communication with clients and management. Regular written reports
- Attending his Personal care/hygiene and toileting
- Performing manual handling daily (2 persons assist)

YOU MUST...
- Be available at least for 2 shifts a day for 3 to 4 days a week
- **Have 1 year minimum of experience with people with disability (knowledge and skills about the autism spectrum is a plus)**:

- Have demonstrated significant experience in working in disabiity
- Have previous experience and skills in de-escalation techniques
- Have experience and skills in personal care
- Have a strong background in mental health or youth
- Have an EXCELLENT communication skills
- Be able to create rapport with the client and provide emotional support with demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills
- Understand the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy, and confidentiality
- Have a proven awareness of disability and mental health issues
- Must have a genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
- Be resilient, motivated, and eager to diversify your experience

but also, you must be fun, willing to learn, and share your knowledge, skills, and specificities

TO APPLY
**You must have**:

- A **valid Police Check (less than 6 months)**:

- A valid Working With Vulnerable People Card (WWVP)/worker screening check
- A driver's license, car, and full insurance vehicle
- Fully vaccinated status for Covid 19
- **At least 20 hours a week to offer and available on the above mentioned times**:

- A valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Experience and qualifications in the field

**Salary**: $30.95 - $38.08 per hour

Supplemental pay types:

COVID-19 considerations:
all staff are still required to wear masks while working with clients and use appropriate PPEs
