**Position Information**:
Narrabeen Sports High School is a comprehensive, inclusive, co-educational high school, located 40 minutes from the Sydney CBD on the northern end of the Northern Beaches (1020 students, including 10 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students). As an Olympic Pathway Partner school, our Elective Sports Academy also draws emerging elite student-athletes from areas outside of the community catchment.
This is an opportunity for a Deputy Principal to be at the forefront of educational leadership in a school focused on talent development, high expectations and quality learning experiences.Our school highly values the professional development of staff which focuses on student growth in a supportive and innovative learning environment. All teachers implement an explicit literacy and numeracy program to support students' foundational learning skills.
Narrabeen Sports High School benefits from dynamic and meaningful relationships with our local businesses and community associations to provide authentic learning experiences and pathways for all students. The NEST (Narrabeen Elanora Student & Teacher) collaboration with our partner primary schools facilitates strong middle schooling programs and a K-12 pathway for all domains of talent development (intellectual, creative, social, physical) in our local community.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated skills in leading teachers at all levels in the implementation of current research-based effective teaching strategies that have improved student learning outcomes.
Consultative, collegial and dynamic approaches to forming effective relationships with all stakeholders ensuring evidence-informed practices that promote learning engagement and wellbeing.
Demonstrated success in leading, evaluating, and refining whole school initiatives, and system improvement processes in a complex comprehensive school.
A proven commitment to enhancing partnerships to inspire and support continuous improvement and connection, providing opportunities and pathways for all students.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
