**About the role**

Ballarat Clarendon College is seeking **Casual Instrumental Music Tutors** of Guitar and Violin to join our team. This position works across the Sturt and Mair Street campuses and will involve tutoring individual students Prep to Year 12.

The successful applicant will be an innovative and motivating tutor and musician, with experience tutoring students of all levels from beginner to advanced. A passion for their instrument(s) and the desire and ability to encourage and promote student involvement in the school's co-curricular ensemble program are also essential for this role.

All tutors at Clarendon are employed to provide the best possible education for each and every student. Tutors are expected to exhibit the highest standards of professional practice.

Tutors report to and operate under the general direction of their Head of Performing Arts. Tutors interact with all areas and levels of staff as well as relevant external parties which often require discretion and confidentiality.

**Selection criteria**
- A commitment to students' social, emotional and intellectual development, including a strong understanding of the Child Safe Standards.
- Proficiency on instrument, with the ability to model and guide students through quality instruction.
- Capacity to work in a high-performing team, including a willingness to seek and respond to feedback.
- Proven ability to monitor student progress, planning for and executing this in lessons.
- Proven ability to set and achieve goals, managing time and conflicting priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build rapport with students, staff, parents and all other persons associated with Clarendon and the wider community.

Tutors that are successful in joining the Clarendon team are excellent team players and confident communicators that are fully committed to the school and its community.

Tutors are not required to maintain VIT registration.

**Knowledge, skill and qualification requirement**
- Demonstrated commitment to Child Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to students of differing abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement an individual learning plan for students.
- Demonstrated ability on relevant instruments and in the taking of ensembles / instrumental classes.
- Confidence in extending and enriching student learning in order to facilitate optimal progress.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate competencies throughout the selection process that may include scenario-based assessment.
