**Position Information**:
Sydney Secondary College, Leichhardt Campus is a partially selective co-educational middle school which caters for students from Year 7 to Year 10 and is located in the inner west. The school has an enrolment of 930 students and includes a support unit with a designated Head Teacher for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and autism. The student body consists of 3.6% students from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. A commitment to innovative, rigorous and future focused education to build a culture of lifelong learning for both students and teachers underpins the directions of the school. There are strong links to the broader community and a highly effective and involved P & C. All Sydney Secondary College Principals work together through the College Management Group to enact their responsibility for effective collegiate decision-making. The College fosters cross campus teaching opportunities for experienced and early career staff to work proactively together across middle and senior school settings.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated capacity to lead school wide evidence based teaching and learning initiatives that improve student outcomes and support the school’s strategic improvement directions.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate high impact whole school professional learning that builds staff capacity and supports the successful implementation of the HPGE policy and the new curriculum.
- Highly developed organisational skills in managing budgets, maintain mandatory training records
- Demonstrated leadership skills to successfully mentor beginning teachers, assist accreditation processes and run induction programs for new staff.
- Capacity to successfully manage a faculty team and guide the development of high quality teaching and learning programs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
