**About University Museums and Collections**
The Museums and Collection Department aims to build a collaborative and flexible network around the University’s cultural assets to enable students, staff members local and global communities to gain knowledge and understanding of contemporary and traditional cultures, scientific discovery and creative practice.
**About the Role**
As the Curator, your primary focus is to work alongside colleagues to plan, develop and deliver an annual program of interdisciplinary and experimental exhibitions and input into programs. You will be responsible for providing support to the Head of Curatorial in the administration, development and production of the Science Gallery Melbourne exhibition and program seasons.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the Head of Curatorial, Science and Academic Programs, to plan, produce and deliver engaging, audience-focused exhibitions and input into programs
- Research new artworks, research and participatory projects to include in the exhibition seasons
- Coordinate the development and delivery of the thematic exhibition and program seasons
- Liaise with the Science and Academic Programs team, participating artists and scientists, community partners, external freelancers and others to drive the delivery of the exhibition, events and other season outcomes
- Manage the administration around the payment of invoices and budget management
**About You**
You will have excellent communication skills including the ability to translate complex information to audiences. You will be enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated and maintain a flexible and adaptable attitude while working in a diverse environment.
You will be proactive and show initiative in the management of a range of responsibilities that will arise in relation to the exhibition seasons, including liaising with artists and researchers, collaborative planning, research and communications.
You will also have:
- Experience in development and/or delivery of exhibitions or similar scale ventures within the areas of science, engineering, technology, maths and/or creative arts
- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, such as (but not limited to) young people, students, academics, designers, visual and performing artists or scientists
- Excellent administrative and project management skills including the ability to prioritise in the planning, co-ordination and completion of tasks to meet deadlines
- To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check._
