The Capability branch is located in the Schools and Student Support Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.

The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.

The EFI is a key system initiative in the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student.

Your Role

The Principal Communications Officer:
oversees the development communications and planning to support the implementation of the Education Futures Institute and related programs and initiatives
leads the program of work comprising the development of strategic communications, graphic design, development key resources, materials and collateral;
works collaboratively with stakeholders and staff to develop high-quality communication materials; and
provides high level advice and support to senior officers and contributes to the development of effective communications aligned to branch objectives.

The Principal Communications Officer reports to the Manager, Governance & Implementation, Capability Branch.

About You

The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:
experience leading and developing strategic communications and resources
a team player with excellent interpersonal skills to support teams to deliver program objectives
strong project management skills with ability to manage competing priorities
enjoy working within a diverse team to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education.
