Procurement Category Manager

6 to 12 Months Initial Contract with possibility to go Permanent
- $135,000 per annum plus superannuation
- Monday to Friday - 40 hours a week

We are currently seeking for a Procurement Category Manager for one of our client. The Category Management team is the largest group within the Procurement & Contract Management branch and is responsible to manage the full lifecycle of goods, services, technology and works contracts across operationally critical infrastructure, industrial equipment, land and marine fleets, facilities, professional services and technology segments. Reporting to the Senior Category & Commercial Manager, the role will drive contract management, strategic sourcing, client engagement, purchasing, and an unparalleled commitment to safety for categories under management.

As a procurement category manager, you will:

- Build relationships with key business partners to support the planning, delivery and management of procurement services for the benefit of client operations, and overall objectives of the organisation to offer a safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable supply chain capacity to its commercial customers.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including planning, tendering, negotiation, contract management, purchasing and spend management.
- Promote and foster a cross-functional team environment to remove silos and contribute to the effectiveness of the operations.
- Play an integral role in the delivery of the Ports’ strategic investment outlook and modernisation program.
- Be the master of your contract portfolio, responsible to set the strategic direction and deliver on your plans.

About You:

- You will be a hands-on individual with strengths in end-to-end procurement, including procurement planning, tendering, negotiation, purchasing and contract management. You will be an innovative thinker with the ability to analyse spend, identify opportunities, and deliver strategic plans for your category.
- You will like getting involved on the ground level, and treat all clients equally, however big or small.
- Individuals with experience as Senior Contract Managers and/or Contract Specialists will be well regarded.

Other essential criteria include:

- Tertiary qualification and/or commercial experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. Strategic Procurement, Commerce, Business Administration) or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated commercial experience in the planning, development and/or management of high risk, complex contracts to meet strategic and operational business needs within a complex organisation.
- Highly-developed written communication skills.
