**About the Organisation**

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) was established in 1973 to address the specific medical needs of
Victorian Aboriginal communities. The organisation has expanded steadily over past 40 years to provide a
comprehensive range of medical, dental and social services for our community.
As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the
community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting
research into the ongoing needs of the community.
VAHS is a child safe organisation.

**About the Opportunity**
The role of the Culture & Connections Project Worker is to manage the facilitation of cultural groups
to engage children and families to attend and participate. The role will involve coordinating the
activities and engaging respected elders and skilled Aboriginal people in their areas of expertise to
facilitate these activities supporting connection and culture.

**Key Selection Criteria**
To be considered for this role you must have the following;
- Understanding of and Commitment to the Aboriginal community.
- Have experience and knowledge of project work and developing and implementing groups and

camps
- Proven ability to work with a range of people and organisations in a non-judgmental and

respectful manner
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in a culturally

safe and respectful manner.
- Understanding of issues faced around young people and families at risk.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of equity,

diversity, occupational health and safety and mandated reporting.

**Qualifications, Licenses and Registrations**
- A Person of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Background or holds strong connections to the

Aboriginal community.
- Relevant qualification or experience in project implementation
- Current Victorian driving license
- Current Working With Children check
- Current National Police check
