**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

Machine Shop Management
- Operations Planning - Production / operations planning, capacity and labour planning.
- Best Practice - Problem solving, documentation and ongoing improvements of machining / processing best practice.
- Work Scheduling - Work from production plans / priority lists to schedule work for each machine. Feedback and jointly resolve any issues with planned production the Production Planner / Scheduler.
- Cost Control - Review of production variances, minimisation of component / material costs and labour costs.

Staff Management
- Supervision - day to day supervision and guidance to ensure standards of productivity and quality are maintained.
- Leadership - guidance for problem resolution, current machining best practice and ongoing improvements.
- Labour Management - Planning of staffing levels, recruitment, reward, discipline and dismissal.
- Training & Development - Planning and execution for all training required as part of their role including, trade (apprentices), Health & Safety, EM, Quality, etc.
- Teamwork - promote teamwork and harmony through regular communication with staff and active management of behavior that may affect these.

Machine Shop Administration
- Work Allocation - Prepare shop paperwork, materials for work to start as scheduled.
- Time Recording - Updating of Manufacturing Order progress through entry of time records into Macpac.
- Purchasing - Price and delivery (expedite when required) negotiation machine shop consumables.
- CNC Programs - Creation, Maintenance and Storage.
- Machine Shop Rework - Raising of Manufacturing Orders for rework.
- Subcontract - Preparation of items to be sent out for outside processing.

Machine Maintenance
- Preventative maintenance inspections.
- Work with the Maintenance Fitter and machine dealers/suppliers as required for machine breakdowns and repairs.
- Coordination and supervision of machine maintenance and repairs with the Maintenance Fitter.

Housekeeping
- Ensure that daily maintenance and cleaning of machines is completed by staff.
- Ensure that a clean and safe work area is maintained by all staff.
- Ensure that all staff clean up after themselves and keep shared facilities clean and tidy.

Hands-on
- Machining of complex low volume items
- Machining of emergency items

Health, Safety and the Environment
- Ensure your personal safety and that of your peers by complying with, and ensuring compliance by your staff with Health & Safety Policies and Procedures including (but not limited to):

- Leading by example;
- Staff Induction and Training;
- Safety Audits as per planned audit schedules;
- Reporting of all incidents and near misses within your area;
- Communication through toolbox meetings.
- Protect our environment by complying with, and ensuring compliance by your staff with Environmental Management Policies and Procedures.

To ensure the Quality of our products and services by following, and ensuring your staff follow all applicable Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Trade qualified in 1st Class Machining
- CNC Experience
- Proven machine shop supervision experience.
- Detailed Emerson product knowledge
- Experience with manufacturing computer systems
- Experience with Quality Assurance systems and procedures
- Experience with Health & Safety systems and procedures

**DESIRABLE**
- Fork List License
- First Aid Certificate
