The Austin Eating Disorders Unit is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a specialist public mental health Eating Disorders team. It is an inpatient program and caters for adults with severe and enduring eating disorders who require a supportive therapeutic program to recover their health and develop their understanding of the pathways to recovery. The team is multidisciplinary and includes a Psychiatrist, Registrar, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Dietician and nurses. The role has generic and social work specific requirements. The Social Worker will be expected to conduct discipline specific assessments and be involved in the delivery of the Program through supportive meal supervision and therapeutic groups.

The Austin Acute Psychiatric Unit has 2 distinct Programs. There are 5 Eating Disorder beds, co-located with 19 Acute Area Mental Health beds. Adjacent to this Unit is a specialist Parent and Infant Unit with 6 beds. It is part of the Austin Mental Health Division which has an extensive range of mental health services across multiple sites.
