**About the role**

Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students from Years 5 to 12 who have disengaged from education. The Community School offers an alternative to mainstream schooling, supporting some of the region's most vulnerable and marginalised young people.

The role of the VET / VASS Coordinator is to educate, promote and advise students, parents, employers, and the wider community of the pathways available to senior students via the many different VETiS and SBAT's available. The role provides a high level of administrative support to underpin the operations of youth education and training programs, including compliance with reporting requirements and student record maintenance.

Duties will include, but are not limited to;
- Building strong relationships with students and families to improve their understanding of the wide range of VETiS pathways, traineeships and apprenticeships available
- Maintaining an expert understanding of the RTO and TAFE sectors and how future changes will impact our students
- Ensure all required data is entered and compliant at all times in the Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS)
- Liaising with the Career and Pathways Coordinator to visit current work placements in order to strengthen relationships and build a comprehensive database detailing future opportunities for our students
- Collaborate with students, school staff and external professionals to support greater engagement and achievement in our flexible and supportive environment

Your days will be varied, always active and working with purpose to support the overall educational outcomes and wellbeing of Cire students.

This is a permanent, part-time opportunity, 30.4 hrs per week, based at our Lilydale campus, with travel required across our campuses in Mount Evelyn, Yarra Junction and Berwick.

**About you**
- Hold a Graduate Certificate in Career Development, or intention to undertake training
- Have a sound understanding of the Vocational Education and Training sector in schools, and in particular, providing innovative teaching and assessment strategies, development and use of learning resources and pathways for VETiS students
- Strong understanding and knowledge of VET programs, Apprenticeships and Traineeships
- Experience or knowledge of Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and TAFE training pathways for secondary students
- Knowledge and experience in the Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS), or willingness to undertake training
- VIT registration, desirable not essential
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, desirable not essential
- Have experience working effectively with young people and the ability to build rapport and trust
- Understand the barriers faced by young people and the educational needs of those from complex diverse, trauma and cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated business development and promotional skills
- Have a thorough understanding of Child Safe frameworks and regulations
- Hold a valid and current approved Victorian Driver's License with access to a reliable car
- Currently hold, or be willing to undertake, certifications including a Working with Children Check, Australian Right to Work Check, and National Police Check
