**The Opportunity**

The ICT team The Kids Research Institute Australia are a dedicated team of professionals who provide a continuous high-quality service and great end-user experience. With over 1000 users across multiple locations nationwide, our mission is to create a borderless collaboration space which is always accessible available through any modern device safely and securely.

As part of a new Cyber Project, we now have an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Writer to join this high performing team which is transforming the way that IT supports researchers and creates capabilities to support collaboration and new ways of work.

In this position, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation for the Institute by ensuring that clear, accurate, and user-friendly manuals, guides, and procedure are available for the user. This role also involves writing and updating supporting policies and procedures against technical standards like ISO 27001, NIST, Essential 8, etc as well as developing documentation for governance where applicable.

Some of your other duties will include, but not be limited to:

- Establish and maintain an efficient document approval process, ensuring all documentation undergoes appropriate review and approval.
- Create new or review and update existing policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations, industry standards, or business needs.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on policies and procedures, ensuring understanding and adherence to established guidelines.
- Participate in periodic audits and assessments to evaluate documentation compliance and effectiveness.

Conveniently located at Perth Children’s Hospital, this role will be offered on a full-time basis for 18 months.

**About You**

The successful applicant will have a Bachelor's degree in IT, Governance, Communications, or a related field and have an exceptional eye for detail. Prior experience in a similar role is also highly desirable, along with the following skills and experience:

- Experience creating technical documentation (user guides, manuals, release notes, policies), including the document approval processes and associated version control systems.
- Experience managing multiple projects independently and in teams.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (Word, Acrobat, SharePoint).
- A basic understanding of IT operations, security, and compliance.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
