**B. STATEMENT OF FUNCTION
**Assist with management of weed issues as per the Biosecurity Act 2017 within the Cootamundra-Gundagai
Regional Council, Local Government Area. Assist with weed control programmes and assist Regulatory Services
staff when required.

**C. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**1. Conduct weed spraying and control measures as required.
2. Assist Regulatory staff to undertake duties as required.

**D. DUTIES**
**Biosecurity Duties**

1. Assist with management of weed issues as per the Biosecurity Act 2017 within the Cootamundra
- Gundagai Regional Council, Local Government Area.

2. Assist Biosecurity Officer with special projects.
3. Assist Biosecurity Officer with roadside spraying.
4. Assist Biosecurity Officer where required performing weed spraying and traffic control where necessary.

**General Labouring**
5. Operate mobile plant and trucks as directed and to the level of training and licensing achieved.
6. Operate and maintain weed spraying unit.
7. Spread and compact materials manually, following safe manual handling techniques.
8. Complete required workplace records.
9. Maintain worksite/workplace tidiness and cleanliness.
10. Attend to maintenance, cleaning and repairs of Council assets as directed.
11. Respond to emergency situations as requested.
12. Undertake training to update, maintain and advance personal skill levels and in compliance with

relevant workplace legislation.
13. Respond to inquiries from members of the public and provide information within scope of responsibility.

14. Carry out any other duties that are within the limits of the employees’ skill, competence, and training

**E. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1. Completion of Chemical Handling Certification (e.g. Chemcert, SMARTtrain) or ability to readily acquire.
3. Demonstrated experience in weed identification and management practices.
4. Demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
5. Current NSW Class MR Drivers Licence or above or equivalent.
6. WHS Construction Induction (NSW White card) or equivalent.
7. Working knowledge of roles and responsibilities under the WHS Act 2011._**F. DESIRABLE CRITERIA**

1. Demonstrated knowledge of the Bio security Act 2015.
2. RMS Traffic Controller Certification (Blue Card or equivalent).
4. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills including customer service, negotiation and

conflict resolution.
