**Job Description**:
You will have experience in breaking sports stories and will have a versatile writing style, strong on-air presence, and ability to package for TV News. You will be skilled at quickly writing crisp, clean copy, including match reports, and filing stories to a high standard.

The role will focus on Australian Rules but experience and knowledge of other sports will be an advantage.

The role will be office-based in Melbourne but you will also be expected to attend training sessions, press conferences and matches. You will need to have a flexible approach to working, as the role will involve working when the sports news happens, which often means weekends.

Day to day you will:

- Identify and react to breaking stories, issues and trends with smart and engaging ideas
- Have your finger on the pulse of everything that is happening in sport, particularly in the AFL
- Monitor social media and online networks for trending stories
- Deliver to tight deadlines
- Provide innovative ideas for compelling storytelling across television and digital
- Cultivate a strong network of sports contacts
- Perform other duties as reasonably required

**Qualifications**:
In order to succeed, you will have:

- Previous demonstrated experience as a sports journalist
- Proven expertise in writing about sport
- An abundance of ideas and energy and the ability to work well as part of a team
- A passion for footy, and a hunger to chase yarns
