Consistent with DVA's strategic priorities in the Corporate Plan, the Commemorations Branch is focussed on knowing, connecting, supporting and respecting Australia’s military history, serving the community through maintaining and enhancing the provision of informative and educational resources and upholding the commitment to commemorating the role of our service personnel and other contributors in the First and Second World Wars, other wars and conflicts, and peace-keeping missions.

We are seeking a Policy Officer to work within the Community Engagements Education Team. The Education Team develops educational and commemorative resources and engages with the primary and senior school teaching community, and the broader public to raise awareness of the diverse experiences of Australian Military service.

**Duties**
- Under direction and as part of a small team, contribute to the outcomes of the Commemorations Branch and undertake commemorative, web or education projects and business as usual.
- Undertake project management and administration tasks for the team, including annual Anzac Day and Remembrance Day Commemorative Packages.
- Research and draft a range of digital and print content suitable for a range of audiences.
- Manage procurement processes and ongoing contract management requirements.
- Research and prepare ministerial correspondence including briefings, submissions and general correspondence.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver complex projects to respond to BAU requests for information and resources.
- Other tasks as required.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
