**About the role**:
In this role, you will be responsible for the timely processing and payment to Apprentices and Trainees as well as mentoring the Payroll and Billing officers. Efficient payroll management is of importance as well as maintenance of the payroll data and files and be knowledgeable of all relevant awards.
You will play an important role in company leadership, and provide expert advice to internal and external customers on all matters relating to the instruments we employer apprentices and trainees under. Further, you will lead the Payroll and Billings team with a can-do positive approach in a professional, yet fun and engaging manner, assist in solving complex requests and issues, and drive professional and informative communication standards.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Accurate processing of apprenticed and trainees pay
- Management of Payroll and Billings staff
- Working knowledge of relevant Awards
- Invoicing Employer Partners
- Overseeing enquires that come via our customers
- Manage & process weekly Apprentices & Trainees payroll
- Process relevant Taxation and Superannuation payments
- Periodically advises on and monitors remuneration payable and paid to Apprentices and Trainees
- Management of Payroll and Billings staff
- Consolidation and development of processes and procedures
- Provide first contact for industrial relations issues.
- Providing accurate and timely industrial relations advice and award/agreement/legislation interpretation
- Maintains ‘Charge-out’ rates for Apprentice and Trainee Mentors and Management
- Study and interpret relevant legislation and awards, ensuring compliance with all relevant employee legislative requirements and update departments / manuals as required to reflect changes in legislation
- Process termination payments accurately and as required
- Invoicing Employer Partners after each payroll run
- Keep up to date and interprets all relevant legislation for all employees
- Implementation of payroll systems changes
- Periodically refreshes own training in own role in aspects of IR Legislation, Awards etc.
- Any other duties as required.
**To be successful in this role, you will need to have**:
- Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Place a high value on industry leading customer service
- Continuous desire to improve knowledge and development
- Detailed and up to date knowledge of the national employment relations framework, together with relevant practical experience in providing professional quality advice across all workplace relations matters
- Experience interpreting or advising on the Fair Work Act or modern awards will be highly regarded
- Proven capability in providing timely commercial advice to clients, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of enterprise agreements and awards including interpretation and calculation of rates
- Strong understanding of end-to-end cross-industry payroll requirements
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA's)
- Legislation surrounding shift work, work breaks, allowances etc.
**Desirable**:
- Experience in a community or Not-For-Profit organisation is advantageous
- Experience in a GTO space or labour hire environment would be desirable
- Working with children check (or willing to undertake one)
- National Police Check (or willing to undertake one)
