**About the role**:

- The Curator is a knowledgeable and creative expert, responsible for leading the development and delivery of engaging exhibitions. This position offers the opportunity for a driven professional to shape the cultural narrative of the museum and allow visitors to connect with the history of Victoria Police bringing the compelling stories and artefacts to life.
- Reporting to the Manager, Museum and Historical Services, the Curator works with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure exhibitions and programs reflect the of diversity of perspectives and are accessible to all. The curator also undertakes research in a confidential and sensitive manner from both the public and employees within Victoria Police.

**Your duties will include**:

- Responsibility for managing displays in an Accredited Museum.
- Developing and implementing contemporary visitor engagement strategies.
- Assisting with collections care including cleaning, rotations and loans.
- Providing high-level advice to stakeholders on historical factchecking, contextualising and tone.
- Assisting with museum risk management practices.
- Daily duties in the museum as required.

**About You**:

- Appropriate qualifications and experience in cultural heritage, museum studies or a related field.
- Strong expertise in curatorship including exhibitions and visitor engagement.
- Detailed understanding of accessibility and inclusive practices.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers and other cultural institutions.
- Expertise in small, medium and large object handling for storage, installation and deinstallation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing risk with respect to object, staff, volunteer and visitor safety.
- Highly-developed research, analytical and communication skills for report-writing and public audiences.
- Familiarity with best-practice digitising and cataloguing syste ms.

- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
