The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Intelligence Analyst to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit.

**About the Business Unit**

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders. The CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and localised prison intelligence units located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria. The Intelligence Analyst reports to an Intelligence Manager of CVIU and will contribute to tactical, operational and strategic intelligence functions.

**About the Role**

The Intelligence Analyst leads the collection, collation, recording and analysis of information, and develops this information for presentation to CV leadership, internal and external stakeholders and for dissemination to authorised persons and external agencies. Intelligence Analysts have the primary function of critical thinking and analysis, identifying and analysing trends, making inferences, and formulating technical intelligence products. This position supports Corrections Victoria and key stakeholders in maintaining the security and safety of correctional facilities, the safety and welfare of staff and people in custody, as well as informing the safe and secure management of offenders in the community.

The position is primarily based at Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit offices at Statewide Services Building in Ravenhall and 50 Franklin Street, Melbourne, but will be required to work from other locations (for example prisons) if a business need arises. Specific positions work from Youth Justice facilities or post-sentence facilities in Ararat.

Some of your duties will include:

- Collect, collate, record, analyse, and disseminate intelligence information to authorised parties in a timely manner to inform decisions made by CV and its stakeholders, primarily in relation to offenders in the community or prisoners.
- Prepare intelligence reports and briefings for senior management, and provide advice on the results of intelligence gathering, including the identification and evaluation of emerging threats, opportunities, patterns and trends which affect the security and good order of the correctional facilities or management of offenders in the community.
- Support CV external agencies by participating in the development and planning of intelligence-led operations.
- Provide support in the development of systems to facilitate more effective and efficient information collection, recording, analysis and dissemination of intelligence information within CV, and to its stakeholders.
- Provide a technical resource for managers through the provision of tactical advice and systems expertise; and provide guidance and assistance to other staff.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Knowledge of the CV system, and key issues impacting the system.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems, preferably Palantir and/or other data managing technologies is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986, Corrections Regulations 2019, Serious Offenders Act 2018, Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.

**Qualifications/requirements**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or thematic knowledge.
- An existing Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance, otherwise one must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- Staff must be trained to Corrections Victoria Intelligence Development Program level within six months of employment (internally available course).
